About

We're hosting a 48-hour online and in-person hackathon from February 6–8, 2025, to connect with and evaluate program applicants.

The hackathon is open to everyone. Participants will have 48 hours to brainstorm and build prototype mini-apps for the World app ecosystem. Need inspiration? You're welcome to work on any of the suggested ideas in the "what to build" section of this document.

All participants must develop and present a working MVP/prototype during the online demo day at 6 PM ET on Saturday, February 8.

The Hackathon Prize Pool

All participants will be considered for a place on our residential build sprint. However, we can only guarantee spots for two members of the winning team.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Judging criteria

Teams will be judged on:

• Overall Idea/Innovation: Is the concept novel, engaging, and necessary?
• Relevance to World: Does it align with World's objectives and enhance the World app's utility?
• Commercial Viability: Does it have scaling potential and a path to sustainability?
• User Experience: Is it globally accessible and user-friendly?
• Team Capability: Does the team possess the necessary skills and demonstrate leadership potential?
• Additional Considerations: Are there other notable strengths or unique aspects not covered by the above criteria?
