Dos & Don’ts
Simply copying and pasting Layer 2 deployment models won't work on the World Network. The most successful builders are those creating Mini Apps from scratch. This approach works because Mini Apps have unique characteristics, specifically:
- 100% mobile audience accessing through World App—no web access, primarily basic Android phones
- User population unfamiliar with crypto-native concepts and terminology
Requirements
- Leverage the unique characteristics of the World ecosystem
- Implement Permit2 for user protection
- Mini App framework for building UIs
Requests for ideas
Looking for inspiration? Here are some ideas we'd love to see builders tackle:
- Social: Clients for decentralized social networks like Bluesky, Farcaster & Lens
- Reputation scoring: Apps that verify on-chain trust and achievements through easy credentialing, skill tests, and peer endorsements, e.g. Talent protocol
- Identity verification: Self-custodial apps for securely managing real-world credentials like location and age verification
- World payments: On-ramp and off-ramp solutions for moving money in and out of the World ecosystem
- Micro-earning opportunities: Reward systems for activities like watching videos and creating content
- Liquidity provisioning: Building user interfaces for liquidity pools, e.g. a Doppler front end
Build categories
We are excited to see Mini Apps leverage World ID and World’s distinctive features in the following categories:
- Payments: Whether it’s peer-to-peer, on-ramping and off-ramping, or merchant payments, the World ecosystem has the network effects and functionality to be the default platform for global payment applications. Builders can create apps leveraging the social graph, proof of personhood, free gas, and tokens on World Chain to make payments as simple as possible.
